GHT Press Releases and Books

Below are a selection of Books, Magazines and Newspaper articles that GHT has featured in either as a mention, a credit or letter. Although we do not seek publicity, occassionally it can be a good way of promoting the team beyond our normal methods. Its also a very good way for Venues to check up on our background and see that we are who we say we are, and not just a bunch of thrillseekers. Venues should also check our DOWNLOAD Page to view our valid Public Liability Insurance Certificate.

21ST CENTURY GHOSTS  By Jason Karl

GHT features inside this book under the name "Spiritquest" which was confusingly our website name back in the early days. When Jason Karl wanted to use some pictures and other material for the book we gave him the famous "Andy mist picture" which we now use as the background for our logo, along with some other pictures taken around the graveyard of St Nicholas Church in Pluckley.

Jason used these in the Pluckley section in the book and some of the team members got a written acknowledgement in the book.

Jason also stated our website address in the book which at the time was linked to the "Spiritquest" name so there was some confusion over it being GHT, but the credits in the back verify it is us. Unfortunately we were not able to get the GHT name and new website address to Jason in time to miss the print deadline for the book.

21st Century Ghosts is an excellent read, well researched and is still available via online sites like Amazon UK.

PARANORMAL ESSEX By David Scanlan & Paul Robins

Colin had befriended David Scanlan via Facebook and had been following the investigations of Hampshire Ghost Club for a while too, when David contacted him in regards to and sites in Essex that GHT had investigated which would be of interest for readers of a new book he was writing called Paranormal Essex, co-written by Paul Robins. Colin gave David access to Report and Research notes from the GHT Vigils at Cross Keys Hotel, Saffron Walden, Hadleigh Castle and Hadstock Airfield, all three were considered to be top rate vigils by the team.

David selected the Cross Keys to be the book entry and our investigation is featured inside on page 38. Some of the team members are also credited in the book too in the acknowledgements.

GHT was very pleased with the finished book, its a fascinating read and covers some well known sites, plus more obscure ones too like Grays Beach. Anyone interested in Ghosts in Essex should have a copy on their shelf.

GHOSTS OF KNIGHTON GORGES  By Gay Baldwin

Colin, Liz and Joan have been good friends with author Gay Baldwin for several years after Colin had purchased all of Gay`s books on the "Ghost Island" - her haunted home of the Isle of Wight, and incidentally the location of GHT`s very first Investigation back in 2004.

Gay has written seven books about the Islands ghosts in general, but one site deserved a book all of its own, and this location was Knighton Gorges, the most haunted site on the Island.

When she announced her plans to write this book, again Colin gave Gay all of the GHT reports and research material from our archives, along with any pictures she could use.

GHT is not credited in the book, but Colin recieved a signed copy with a note thanking him for his help. Since to our knowledge there is no other book on Knighton and its hauntings, this book is an essential purchase and contains all the cases and reported phenomena at the site up to present day. We look forward to Gay`s next book whenever it may be.

SAFFRON WALDEN REPORTER NEWSPAPER

In 2007, the SAFFRON WALDEN REPORTER Newspaper ran an article about haunted properties in the town, one of which was the Cross Keys Hotel.

The article asked if anyone else had seen or been involved in anything paranormal in buildings in Saffron Walden and requested people send their stories into the paper.

Colin saw this article and immediately contacted the Reporter to alert them to the fact that GHT had been operating in the town since 2004 and that they had carried out a full night investigation in the Cross Keys.

The letter Colin sent appeared in the November 8th edition (2007) and was printed in full with a big heading "Paranormal Team in Town" and gave details of the team`s past investigations along with the Cross Keys vigil and details about our Website and Gallery Site.

GHT would go on to investigate the Cross Keys twice and sites in the town ranging from the Radwinter Road Cemetery, The Common, Gold Street, High Street, King Street and the Castle Ruins.

Our 2007 Investigation at the Cross Keys established that an earlier Newspaper picture taken there of the supposed ghost of a Cromwellian soldier had in fact been fabricated by capturing the steam from a boiling kettle, furthermore our Sensitives picked up on the name Elizabeth Tollermarche, whom upon researching afterwards turned out to be Cromwell`s mistress, giving evidence to support that the Cross Keys may have been the hostelry that she stayed at in the town while Cromwell himself stayed in the Sun Inn, now Lancaster Antiques in Church Street.

Local Newspapers are a good source of articles regarding hauntings or premises which have had a haunted past, and therefore they are a useful tool for acquiring new venues or for use as  research on Investigations GHT is conducting.

THE SPECTRAL TIMES  -  ISSUE SIX   (2014)

GHOST HUNT TEAM features in an interview inside this online magazine along with a few pictues. The Spectral Times is a fantastic read, packed full of interesting reports from other team investigations, reviews of the latest books, films and CD`s regarding all things paranormal, plus contributions from some of the biggest names in paranormal circles.

The interview with GHT is on page 58 of Issue 6 of this magazine and contains pictures from the teams vigils at Hellfire Caves, Paglesham (Essex) and of course Pluckley, featuring the famous "mist in the doorway" picture taken by Andy Ball, which has gone on to become the GHT Logo.

THE SPECTRAL TIMES - ISSUE NINE  (2014)

Further to the first magazine article, Colin went on to submit another based on our Investigations at Binham Priory, Norfolk - and pondered on the Team`s findings there and the possibility of an "Elemental" spirit being the root cause. Unlike the previous article in Issue Six, this one runs over several pages and has been faithfully reproduced from our own Reports word for word into the magazine .

We are very proud of this article as it gives the reader not only some insight into a rather little known site on the Paranormal map, but also shown the meticulous methods and working of GHT on an Investigation.

Further more it highlights two outstanding GHT Guests - Andy Thom and Michelle Vanda Scott - both of whom are not just wonderful and genuine people who we are very privileged to class as friends, but they both are highly accurate and consistant Mediums, who`s findings on site have been backed up by later research and verified more times than most. They both work very well with other GHT Members and other teams.

This Binham article does, as i said, pose the question about the Elemental being behind the hauntings, but it is not "answered" in the text - instead it was deliberately left open ended with just enough information given to enable the reader to form their own opinion, something we at GHT feel is very important.

Inside both magazines, as well as the Interview and article, GHT is also mentioned as part of the BIG LIST, a huge directory of a worldwide list of paranormal services available, of which GHT is listed at the second position, giving the team quite a high profile.

GHT wishes to thank Thom at Great British Ghosts for his support and help, and for making the article possible.
