Tracks on the Upper Boards!!!

Well, its started... we are finally laying track on the new upper boards of the layout...!!!

Tracklaying commenced with the construction of a ramp extension to take the track off the gradients and up onto the upper boards, and then the placing of Furman Smithy Junction - the major piece of trackwork to be installed.

After that the corner board for the Depot area was put in place and the first section of the four-track curves was put in place.

With the new tracks firmly secured, the two Class 350`s were once again pressed into testing duties to check for any faults. After an initial hiccup with a power loss and one derailment which were swiftly solved, the 350s made several successful trip up and down from lower to upper boards and back again.

The next stage will be the fitting of the Colcester Station Board and the return ramp connection back to the gradients which will allow for the installation of Colcester Junction and completion of the first internal loop.

This will allow trains to complete a circuit again for the first time since the first run around on loose track when the first boards were completed.
