THE SCENERY BEGINS....

So, after the many jobs completed in September, everything is now starting to come together - these small jobs culminate into a bigger picture which I can now report is finally reaching another milestone - the scenery has begun..!!!

Two areas have been chosen to start with, these are the rear wall near Colcester Junction and the bases made for the Signal Box and Power Feed Station. The rear wall has had a tall brick retaining wall added to hide the gap between the board and the shed wall, and this has a top made of grass paper covered in scatter material and lichen moss. The other area is the bases constructed for placing the Colcester Signal Box and the Power Feed Station which will supply the overhead wires. This area is fenced in and will have gravel as a flooring along with pathways marked out. Access will be from Platform 6 and also by a gateway and steps leading down towards the road and level crossing on the Lower Loop Line.

There is a lot of work to be done still on both areas.

I have also used the Peco platform edging to set out the platforms of Colcester International Station so now we have the start of platforms 3/4/5/6 which have been staggered and had the Eurostar testing clearances. There has also been the delightful find of quite a large number of Hadley JV overhead wires and masts which I aim to use on this layout. Its come to my attention that the Dapol masts and wires are simply too fragile and therefore the sections which will see the most use will have Hadley masts and wires mixed with Peco wires too. The remaining Dapol ones will go onto the upper loop line.

So, here are a few pictures of the scenic work, as usual CLICK HERE for the main Gallery...
