First of all, the Gradient issue...
Well, it looks like its been solved with a combination of using the DCC Concepts Powerbase system and replacing the existing ramps with the Woodland Scenics Incline set. Test runs on the newly installed gradients are promising with locos such as the Class 90, 91 and 395 Javelin all making their way up the gradients with ease and even without the Powerbase magnets fitted, however I suspect that a loco with enough magnets fitted to it would pull a long rake of coaches up the gradients with no issues since we seem to have solved the issue which the old ramps had.
In further news, more scenery has been added to the upper level between the Depot and Colcester International Station, a small Works Compound has been added along with a walkway across the Slow tracks from the OHE Power Feed Station. Next to this, the road tunnel/bridge has also been completed using cardboard, brick paper and pieces of cut card to represent the cornerstones. The area around the disused signal box has also been improved and to the left of the road tunnel is a big embankment now.
The laser cut OHE gantries were given a coat of grey primer and glued together, and Dapol register arms were fitted to one gantry to see how they would work. There is still plenty to do on this side, and one of the next major builds with be the road over-bridge near the Depot which will effectively create the third upper level of scenery. Before this can go in the Depot itself will need to be sorted out with scenery and OHE Masts.
This bridge will be removable to aid track cleaning.
Here is a little taste of whats been done so far...
