A lot has been happening since the last New update...
Firstly the construction began of the Depot Road Bridge, this key piece of infrastructure links in the Depot via a ramp from the bridge. This was constructed using a piece of the insulation board (for reasons which will become apparent) and some light card and some charcoal card. The insulation board was shaped as required and the charcoal card was cut to match this shape. The light coloured card was then added as pavements and traffic islands. Space was made in the pavement for the Depot ramp to meet the bridge. After this a white paint marker pen was used to do the road markings. Still to be added are Traffic lights, Keep left bollards, a box junction road marking, street lighting and people...
The Second big feature added was Colcester Lower Crossing, the area for this had been set out quite sometime ago and once the Road Tunnel area was finished it was time to add this feature in. The crossing is a kit by Wills and contains everything you need to set up the level crossing. Some parts require painting first and then putting together, some are a little bit fiddly but I was surprised by how good the finished items looks, especially now its on the layout.
In other news, the population of Colcester grew from zero to six as some Network Rail figures were added, four are in the Works Compound, the other two are at the level crossing. More figures will be appearing on the layout as things progress...
Also the PECO OHE Wires were fitted to the scratch-built mast albeit with a little adapting. These wires are stronger than the Dapol ones and also have the benefit of fitting to the Hadley JV masts I already have.
There is an Update Video Blog which can be view if you CLICK HERE, and the full Gallery of recent pictures if you CLICK HERE, Meanwhile here is a brief look at all the new items...
