It seems like a while since we last visited the Depot area of Colcester International, and in many ways it had become the forgotten corner of the layout whilst other areas had more attention. However, this changed today...
Colcester Depot is an area that has seen its glory days pass by, it still plays a minor role as a stabling point but no maintenance takes place there now. Its main operations ceased about five years after the approach line was electrified.
The scenery of the Depot we see today reflects this decline and in the 21st Century only a handful of locos, shunters and a few trucks and wagons occupy the area.
There is still a lot to do here, the road ramp needs completing as does the parking area and access route over the tracks. At the time of writing I ran out of ballast so this too must be completed.
As well as the Depot, so further work was completed on the Lower Crossing and Lower Loop Line and these are now nearly scenically complete.
