Fleet changes coming to Colcester

Okay, for a little while now i have had two Hornby Railroad "Blue Rapier" Class 395 sets. The thing is whilst the original plan was for them to run out into the garden, i am now finding myself preferring the more detailed versions of this Class especially as i have doubts over converting the other ones to DCC.

I have therefore purchased two new detailed Class 395 sets, one is a second hand set from Great Eastern Models, the other from the same shop is the brand new version of the Class 395 named "Hornby Visitor Centre". Both will be chipped by the "GEM Wizard" Rob and therefore fully DCC compatible for Colcester`s tracks.

The Railroad versions will be part exchanged along with their coaches (including two unused boxed coaches) and the Class 06 and 08 shunters will be going too, both these last two will not operate on my complexed pointwork and basically became redundant pretty quickly, also the Class 66 tackles the role they were meant for much more effectively.

Selling off older stock to help finance newer ones is something we have done before on Colcester. To be fair the newer trains tend to run alot better on my tracks than the older ones and i have minimal issues with them, the Bachmann Class 90 for example runs flawlessly everytime i use it.
