COLCESTER INTERNATIONAL STATION - Final plan..!!
After several attempts to get the plan just right for the new International Station, i have now settled on the one below as the best choice.
It features the Central Avoiding line which is integral to the new plan and operartion of the layout, plus i have now factored in the DMU platforms without compromising too much on space.
The way i see the Station working is as follows:
PLATFORM ONE - This will be a short DMU bay platform with enough space to take the Class 156 Sprinter unit
PLATFORM TWO - This take both the 4-car Class 350 units and the 5-car Class 395 Javelin too - also the forthcoming Stadler Flirt units
PLATFORM THREE / FOUR - The two main platforms which will handle a majority of passenger express services with the likes of Classes 87, 90, 91, 373, 395 and 800 all stopping here unless running non-stop via the Central Avoiding Line
PLATFORM FIVE (A) - This will be for Class 350 4-car units and Class 395 Javelin too along with Stadler Flirts when available
PLATFORM FIVE (B) - This will be for DMU Classes, possibly another future purchase.
The whole idea is to keep the station active an busy so that it properly represents an important city hub and interchange. Above the tracks it will be set within the city scene board with other buildings and will also incorporate a Bus/Coach Terminus which again runs with the theme of interconnectivity.
